The Best Ad-vice for “Think Too Much” Personalities


If you’re anything like me, you tend to think too much and for too long. I stay up late, overanalyze a problem, try to out-think every angle. I wish I could say that it worked. It doesn’t…at all. In fact, it’s counter-productive. Just quit already.

The Best Ad-vice I can give to anyone on solving a problem is to sleep. That’s right. I’ll type it out really slow: S-L-E-E-P. Before you go back to being “productive,” let me tell you from personal experience that sleep is not your enemy. Say it out loud if need be. Go ahead. I’ll start:”Sleep is not my enemy.” When you’re up late or still staring at your screen at 10 pm, the best thing you can do is sleep on an idea, design, or problem. When you wake up, you’ll know where to go next and how to move forward with any problem that you have. Rest refreshes you. Rest is as much a tool as Photoshop or any software that you use. Use rest like you would any other tool. It won’t crash or let you down.

Now, go set your alarm clock and get some rest.
